First Year Journals
This school journal is designed to help students in their transition from Primary to Post-primary and provide the students, teachers and parents with a relevant and age appropriate ‘handbook’. The language used is simple and clear and readable for 12-13 year olds.
The content covers areas which students and schools have suggested are important in helping our first year students to make a successful transition to life in the post-primary school.
Content covers topics such as:
- A daily checklist
- Guidelines on homework
- Study behaviour
- Bullying
A ‘what if’ section covers the many difficulties that newcomers to post-primary schools may encounter, with simple answers provided for the student.
This material has been developed with and by young people in our schools. Schools have the facility to include specific material such as ‘codes of behaviour, map of school ’etc. in the journal.
